This weekend we had family from Holland come for a visit & it was Mother's Day weekend. It was a nice time & been years since we seen them last for Gerard & I. It's always so hard to have family in one place at one time. All of Gerard's mom's sisters came & one sister in-law. It was fun just sitting back watching everyone. They all favor each other, but all act so different.
Friday we ate Danish Smørre Brød a typical danish lunch. Over the years I have ''learned'' to like it!
After dinner we went for a quick dairy tour.
On Saturday, Hilda & her sisters all went to Copenhagen to do some shopping.
Can you guess what was for dinner?
Mexican.
I know it was a first time to eat mexican for some of them. When Gerard's mom asked me to make Mexican food I said,''Yes.'' It is so easy & fast especially when there is a full house to cook for.
For dessert I tried a new recipe & it called for rum in it. So it said to light pan & it would burn around 30 seconds. We did not have a long lighter & was not sure so Hilda let us use her creme brulee torch. It was pretty funny to see us & Geda just took charge & the pan lit perfectly.
One of Gerard's aunts gave us some Dutch stroop waffels. I think the package lasted a day at our house,no lie! Thanks, Ada & they were so delicious.
Sunday morning everyone came over to visit our home & we gave them a quick tour then they were off. It was a nice cozy weekend! We will all see them again soon when we travel to Holland for a family wedding.
Happy Mother's Day to you ALL!
Mother's Day...
a time for warm thoughts
and fond memories,
for expressing
the feelings and words
that often go unspoken,
for letting
those special people
in our lives know
that they are loved
and appreciated -
always.
